This front matter section of the book titled Early Persian Lexicography: Farhangs of the Eleventh to the Fifteenth Centuries contains a table of contents, list of tables, preface, acknowledgements and abbreviations. The book is the only study in a Western European language of an important part of the intellectual and cultural history of the Persianate world in its formative phase. The farhang, or defining dictionary of Persian vocabulary, played an important role in the cultural life of Persian speakers.
