Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book The English-Language Press Networks of East Asia: 1918-1945 contains the table of contents, acknowledgements, a foreword, and a list of figures and plates. This book argues that the English-language press of East Asia played a significant role in the shaping of international perceptions of Japan and East Asia and that this role can only be fully understood if it is realized that there existed within the East Asian media world three informal networks of the English-language press and that a similar editorial line was generally taken by those newspapers, magazines and news agencies that belonged to each network.
