Chapter Summary

Ms K and the author wanted to visit the Natsume Soseki Museum before they left Japan, but in London what had been causing them some anxiety became reality. All the people around them were foreigners. They were poor in English. They used the Underground and the name of the Underground station was Clapham Common, and the address was '81 The Chase'. The author knew those two names because she had telephoned the Japan Tourist Bureau before the trip and learned them together with the necessary information about where the Soseki Museum was and how to get there. They took the Northern Line on the Underground. The museum was a simple building, but the two rooms in it were piled high with books. The little trip she went on to the Soseki Museum, fleeing from temptation, gave her such satisfaction as she had never experienced.
