Chapter Summary

This chapter presents three welcome remarks made during the conference on "Recent Developments in the Law of the Sea and China". These welcome addresses were given by: John Norton Moore, Kuen-chen Fu and Zhu Chong-shi. The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which emerged from the conference and which is now in force for 148 nations, is one of the greatest achievements in cooperative international lawmaking in history.
