The right to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activity and to participate fully in cultural and artistic life is recognized in Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). With the exception of the right to play, other specific rights recognized in this provision have been previously recognized to all adults and children alike, in other international instruments, including the 1966 International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR).
