Chapter Summary

This chapter presents texts of Rules of Procedure and Evidence. The Rules have been adopted in the official languages of the International Criminal Court (ICC) established by article 50, paragraph 1. All texts are equally authentic. A Chamber shall have the authority, in accordance with the discretion described in article 64, paragraph 9, to assess freely all evidence submitted in order to determine its relevance or admissibility in accordance with article 69. Challenges to the jurisdiction of the Court or the admissibility of the case at the commencement of the trial, or subsequently with the leave of the Court, shall be dealt with by the Presiding Judge and the Trial Chamber in accordance with rule 58. Before deciding whether to exercise jurisdiction, the Court may consult with States Parties that may have jurisdiction over the offence.
