Chapter Summary

The front matter section of the book Arabic-English Dictionary of Qur'anic Usage contains the Foreword, the Introduction and the list of abbreviations. The book fills a tremendous need for a new scholarly dictionary of the vocabulary of the Qur'an, with complete translation of all words, in which the abundant information in the commentary literature is taken into account. The information in the book is presented by root, as in most dictionaries, but an interesting feature is that at the beginning of each lemma the entire semantic range of the root is given, together with a frequency count of each form belonging to the root.

Keywords: Arabic-English dictionary; Qur'anic usage
