Chapter Summary

This section presents a list of abbreviations that occur in the book titled The Book of Jubilees: rewritten Bible, redaction, ideology and theology. The book of Jubilees rewrites the Torah from Genesis through the middle of Exodus. However, in contrast to Gen 1, Jubilees does not open with the creation of the world, but rather, with a narrative framework dated to the 16th of the third month (1:1), the day after the Sinaitic covenant according to the Jubilees calendar. According to Jub. 1, the opening of which is parallel to Exod 24:12–18, when Moses ascended Sinai for a second time, the Lord revealed to him “the divisions of the times for the law and for the testimony”.
