Chapter Summary

This chapter presents the Council Regulation (EC) No. 2007/2004 of 26 October 2004 establishing a European agency for the management of operational cooperation at the external borders of the Member States of the European Union. The Agency shall follow up on the developments in research relevant for the control and surveillance of external borders and disseminate this information to the Commission and the Member States. Exercise of executive powers by the Agency's staff and the Member States' experts acting on the territory of another Member State shall be subject to the national law of that Member State. The Agency may cooperate with Europol and the international organisations competent in matters covered by this Regulation in the framework of working arrangements concluded with those bodies, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Treaty and the provisions on the competence of those bodies.
