Chapter Summary

Each Member of the International Labour Organisation which ratifies the Recruiting of Indigenous Workers Convention undertakes to regulate in accordance with the various provisions the recruiting of indigenous workers in each of its territories in which such recruiting exists or may hereafter exist. Recruited workers shall be brought before a public officer, who shall satisfy himself that the law and regulations concerning recruiting have been observed and, in particular, that the workers have not been subjected to illegal pressure or recruited by misrepresentation or mistake. A Member which has ratified this Convention may denounce it after the expiration of ten years from the date on which the Convention first comes into force, by an act communicated to the Director-General of the International Labour Office for registration. Such denunciation shall not take effect until one year after the date on which it is registered.
