Chapter Summary

This appendix section of this book Diplomacy with a Difference: The Commonwealth Office of High Commissioner, 1880–2006 discusses the growth of intra-commonwealth representation from 1880 to 1957. Today intra-Commonwealth diplomacy is practically indistinguishable from the ‘normal’ sort, making the former’s distinctive diplomatic terminology little more than quaint. However, it took getting on for a hundred years for Commonwealth interchanges and the associated office of high commissioner to reach this condition.
