Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book Text, Image and Song in Transdisciplinary Dialogue contains the table of contents and a preface. The book discusses problems of textual genesis and transmission on the basis of manuscripts discovered in Tabo (Spiti) and Gondhla (Lahaul) respectively. It also examines a Buddhist monument from a different perspective: the manuscript ‘library’ at Keru (TAR), the historical inscription at Wanla (Ladakh), and the narrative painting at Tabo. Later, the book defines the artistic representations of royal figures in the monasteries of the period and the extended region. Finally, the book analyses the evidence provided by the oral traditions.
