Chapter Summary

This chapter explores and emphasizes the variance in the transmission of the manuscripts. It focuses on single manuscript edition of Bamberg (B). The edition is supplied with three apparatus. Textual passages in italics are referred to in an apparatus fontium. These parts are textual supplements and the used sources are quoted in parentheses. The second apparatus marks corrections, additions, expunctions etc made in the codex. The actual places are signed with small superscript letters in the text. The final apparatus explains distorted or confusing readings. Such places are introduced in the apparatus by the actual line number. This apparatus also includes readings from the other manuscripts where they agree against B.
