Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of manuscripts that occur in the book Rewriting Roman History in the Middle Ages: The 'Historia Romana' and the Manuscript Bamberg, Hist. 3. It contains a list of recent volumes in the book series Mittellateinische Studien Und Texte. The codex Bamberg Hist. 3, henceforth abbreviated as B, is a most fascinating document which throws light on many aspects of medieval historiography. The purpose of the present dissertation is to offer a series of contextualisations of B, with special regard to its paraphrased version of the Historia Romana. The Historia Romana, henceforth abbreviated as HR, was the most popular Roman history in the Middle Ages. The composition of the HR starts as early as Late Antiquity with Eutropius, the secretary or magister memoriae of the Emperor Valens.
