Chapter Summary

The title of this chapter about the apostolic succession in the Lima text: namely, &t;Succession in the apostolic tradition,&t; indicates that there is a shift in the terminology. ?Apostolic tradition' covers all elements that are involved in the dynamic transmission process from the apostles to the present day with a view to the kingdom that is coming. The chapter consists of two sections. The first section discusses the apostolic tradition in the church; the second one deals with the succession of the apostolic ministry. The second section contains an explanation of what the apostolic succession of ministry means within the apostolic tradition.
