Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of ancient author names and terms that are mentioned in the book Deviancy in Early Rabbinic Literature: A Collection of Socio-Anthropological Essays. The types of deviant individuals dealt with in this book are found in early rabbinic literature, primarily in the Mishnah, Tosefta and Talmud. The body of Talmudic literature is enormous; it is comprised of sources generated over hundreds of years, dating from the third century BCE in Jewish society in Palestine until the time of late Babylonian Jewry.
