Chapter Summary

This index section presents the list of names, terms and concepts of South Asian Muslim women. The Muslim community finds itself at the centre-stage of the world today. Muslim women and gender issues in Muslim societies have once again, after hundreds of years of colonial- Christian-missionary driven inquisitiveness, emerged as the focal point for the actions of western warlords and in the discourses of global power brokers. Myths and facts often mix and appear interchangeably to such an extent that at the end what one is left with is hardly credible. Women who appear in these exchanges are identified as 'their women' or as 'our women'.

Keywords: colonial- Christian-missionary; Muslim community; Muslim women
