Chapter Summary

This section provides the translation of the edict of Sulṭān-Abū Saʿῑd relating to the Gulistān Dam at Mashhad. The edict says that only after the dam was built, it was brought to the royal attention that some of the lands that were rendered arable by means of water from it are the property of private owners while others [belong to] pious endowments (vaqf) of various types. Hence, the royal will decided that all those arable lands should become the property of the royal privy purse by means of the conclusion of contracts of sale and through the lawful exchange [of vaqf properties].
