Chapter Summary

This appendix presents an appointment order issued by Sulṭān-Ḥusain of Qivām al-Dῑn Abū al-Qāsim, who belongs to a family that for generations has been entrusted with deputyship in the financial administration. The appointment order says that al-Qāsim is now an administrator of ʿAlid shrine at Balkh which is the abode of the holy, is the manager and the one responsible for the illustrious development project, both in an advisory and executive capacity, and is the manager of the agricultural activity [connected with] the enterprise of the holy shrine. The order further states that he will fulfill without delay the conditions of his diligent concern in matters [connected with] the irrigation canal which, in accordance with royal order, is being put into operation for the endowed [lands] of that blessed place, and to bring it to completion as soon as possible.
