Chapter Summary

This appendix section presents the translations of the bill of sale of state land and the bill of purchase relating to the privatization of land in the Balkh region by Sulṭān-Ḥusain. A brief description of the properties is also given. One such property is an indivisible two-thirds of the village called Palāspūsh, which is located on the main feeder canal of [Balkh]. The translation goes on to say that the buyer took lawful possession of the property in a valid and lawful [transaction] of purchase and sale, comprising the offer and acceptance of a sale by a Muslim to a Muslim, free of invalidating conditions and clauses [that would render it] null and void. The section also presents several images such as the one depicting a page from a Timurid handbook on bureaucratic procedures and accountancy script.
