Chapter Summary

This chapter presents a story on Synagoga and her daughter Ecclesia. Synagoga was formerly married to God, but has been left by him now; Ecclesia married Jesus. The narrative shows the mother and daughter arguing about this marriage. Synagoga accuses him of having been a malefactor who has violated the law. Ecclesia defends him and tries to prove that he is God. Synagoga recognizes the miracles of Jesus but complains about his successors. She argues that church leaders are greedy, and kings and princes ruled their people as tyrants. After Ecclesia says Christians believe in forgiveness and salvation, and explains the mystery of the Trinity and the Incarnation of the Son of God, Synagoga again becomes committed to Jesus. The original text of the chapter is in German.
