Chapter Summary

This appendix section contains the data for villa sites in Umbria. Occupation density is the number of villas that were occupied in each century in the region. The section presents the chart which represents the percentage values with respect to the total number of villas. Since a precise dating of the construction and abandonment of the villas is usually not available, the villa chronology has been arranged by centuries; this means that if an occupation of a villa started, say, ca. 50 A.D. and ended ca. 150 A.D., it would show a length of occupation of two centuries, although it was actually occupied for only 100 years. The section presents the histogram which shows the original occupation start date of the villa. It also presents the graph which shows the final abandonment date of the villa, and does not take into consideration previous breaks in occupation, if any.
