Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book Kartwelisches Etymologisches Wörterbuch contains the table of contents. The book presents the Kartvelian lexis in separate entries. The reconstructed forms of the root- and affix morphemes are listed in alphabetical order of the Georgian script followed by instances of the Kartvelian languages. Each entry covers the phonological development of the lexical item from its original form to its present state and is amply supplemented by references. It considers the Mingrelian and Lasische as separate languages, as the spokesmen for both forms of language can not communicate with each other. The Georgian language is the state language on the territory of the Republic of Georgia, where it is spoken by over four million people as a first language. The original text of the chapter is in German.
