Chapter Summary

This bibliography section presents the list of reference books and articles that occur in the book titled The Ancient Synagogue from its Origins to 200 C.E. Ancient synagogues, the institutional matrixes in which two world religions were born, have been discussed and debated by scholars of Early Judaism and Christianity since modern historical research entered the world of academics around the 16th century. The Enlightenment, however, did not mark the beginning of learned interest in the early synagogue.
