Chapter Summary

This index presents a list of terms and places that are mentioned in the book Life in a Kam Village in Southwest China, 1930-1949. The basic aims of Life in a Kam Village are twofold: primarily to tell 'the Kam story' as it really was in one remote village community and secondarily to play a small part in hypothesizing the social history of Southwest China as it relates to nationalities in the 1930s and 1940s. Research in English on minority life in Republican China is relatively scarce. Life in a Kam Village therefore has a significant role to play in 'filling the gaps'.

Keywords: Kam village; Republican China
