By means of Article 151(4) EC, introduced by the Treaty of Maastricht, and amended by the Treaty of Amsterdam, the Community also needs 'to take cultural aspects into account in its action under other provisions of Treaty, in particular in order to respect and to promote the diversity of its cultures'.
