Chapter Summary

The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint body of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), is one of the oldest institutions designed exclusively for trade development purposes. All 153 WTO members and 193 UNCTAD members states constitute ITC membership. The most important governance body of ITC is the Joint Advisory Group (JAG), membership of which is open to Member States of UNCTAD and Members of WTO. The ITC and its different activities are financed by resources from the regular budget and from extra-budgetary funds. The ITC's role in transnational economic governance has evolved since its inception more than four decades ago, although it's main function in assisting developing countries with their export sectors remains a central priority.
