Chapter Summary

The International Securities Association for Institutional Trade Communication - International Operations Association (ISITC-IOA) is a not-for-profit, global organization consisting of securities operations professionals including investment managers, custodian banks, universal banks, broker dealers, and software and data network communication vendors. The key objective of ISITC-IOA is to improve the effectiveness of the financial services industry by fostering, promoting, and developing a set of Straight-Through-Processing (STP) standards designed to reduce risk and enhance operational efficiency. ISITC-IOA has several boards which carry out different functions. Members of the Regional Boards may influence the composition of the Advisory Board by making recommendations to the Global Board. Membership fees are the main source of income for ISITC-IOA. ISITC-IOA plays a crucial role in defining uniform and interoperable message standards, which are considered to be a pre-requisite for the full implementation of STP.
