Chapter Summary

This bibliography contains a list of reference journals, newspapers, monographs, articles and internet resources relevant to discussion of language policies of various social agents in early 20th century China and the emergence of China's national language. The entries are arranged in alphabetical order. This book is predominantly concerned with the sociolinguistic value system and its relation to the political landscape. It considers the national school system, its establishment and subsequent reform, as the central battleground of a political struggle over hegemony of which attitudes towards language were only one of many symptoms.
