Chapter Summary

Due to an explosion of archaeological and Turkological research, there has recently been a dramatic increase in the number of studies published in English on the East European nomads. This bibliography covers the period between 1880 and 2005. Limited geographically to Eastern Europe and chronologically to the medieval history of the area before the Mongol conquest, its purpose is to bring together works that appeared in various publications, some of which are not readily accessible to the English-speaking reader. The focus is on what Peter B. Golden called the "pre-Činggisid nomads of western Eurasia".

Keywords: East European nomads; Mongol conquest; pre-Činggisid nomads; western Eurasia
