This front matter section of the book Baltic Connection: Archival Guide to the Maritime Relations of the Countries Around the Baltic Sea (Including the Netherlands) 1450-1800: Volume II Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands contains the table of contents, list of illustrations, preface, introduction, notes on editors, subjects covered by the Guide. The book is the most important result of an intensive cooperation between nine European countries. This cooperation makes the project unique: never before has an archival project been initiated in the European Union in which so many countries participated. It presents an overview of the most significant archival sources on such topics as trade, shipping, merchants, and commodities. The book contains almost 1000 descriptions of materials kept in more than 100 repositories in countries such as Latvia, Lithuania, and Netherlands.
