Chapter Summary

This chapter deals with the various articles of the Agreement for Convention relating to the Distribution of Programme-Carrying Signals Transmitted by Satellite, adopted by the International Conference of States on the Distribution of Programme-Carrying Signals Transmitted by Satellite convened by UNESCO. The use of satellites for the distribution of programme-carrying signals is rapidly growing both in volume and geographical coverage. There is an need for an international system to be established under which measures should be provided to prevent distributors from distributing programme-carrying signals transmitted by satellite which were not intended for those distributors.
