Chapter Summary

The development of international rules is one of the main functions of UNESCO. This chapter is a part of the first part of this volume, which features the conventions and agreements adopted by the General Conference or by intergovernmental conferences convened by UNESCO alone or jointly with other organisms International.Standard-setting represents one of the main constitutional functions of UNESCO and an important tool for realizing the goals for which the organization was created. This chapter presents the protocol annexed to the Convention adopted by an Intergovernmental Conference of States convened by UNESCO for the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict. It also lists the resolutions agreed to under this Convention. According to this agreement, each High Contracting Party would undertake to prevent the exportation, from a territory occupied by it during an armed conflict, of cultural property as defined in Article 1 of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, signed at The Hague on 14 May 1954.
