Chapter Summary

This chapter presents the various articles included in the agreement relating to the distribution of programme-carrying signals transmitted by satellite. This Convention was adopted by the International Conference of States convened by the UNESCO. The use of satellites for the distribution of programme-carrying signals is rapidly growing both in volume and geographical coverage. The agreement was signed considering the need for an international system to be established under which measures should be provided to prevent distributors from distributing programme-carrying signals transmitted by satellite which were not intended for those distributors. The original text of the chapter is in French.
