Chapter Summary

This chapter presents Protocol 1 annexed to the Universal Copyright Convention adopted by the Intergovernmental Copyright Conference convened by UNESCO. The protocol concerns the application of that Convention to the works of stateless persons and refugees. The stateless persons and refugees who have their habitual residence in a State that is party to this Protocol shall, for the purposes of the Convention, be assimilated to the nationals of that State. The governments of the States signatory to this agreement, were convinced that facilitating the international circulation of visual and auditory materials of nature educational, cultural and scientific would contribute to the free diffusion of ideas, promoting mutual understanding between peoples. The original text of the chapter is in French.
