This chapter of the book International Review of Biblical Studies, Volume 53: Internationale Zeitschriftenschau für Bibelwissenschaft und Grenzgebiete Revue Internationale des Études Bibliques presents abstracts and summaries of articles and books that deal with early institutions and rituals. The articles and books that are abstracted and reviewed are collected annually by an international team of collaborators from over 300 of the most important periodicals and book series in the fields covered. The abstracts, which may be in English, German, or French, are arranged thematically under the following headings: social institutions and religious institutions. The abstracts under social institutions cover families, women, marriage, divorce, birth, child, gender relations, the end of life, economic life, legal institutions, and the world of learning. The abstracts under religious institutions cover temple, ritual acts, festivals, early Judaism, and Christianity.
