Chapter Summary

This section of this book titled The Karaites of Galicia presents illustrations on maps of Karaite settlements in Eastern Europe and Topographic plan of late medieval and early modern Halicz. An image represents the Karaite Street and the Karaite synagogue (kenesa) of Halicz before World War I and Silver ?as (Tora shield) with Hebrew inscription of 18th century. It also presents the image of Zarach Zarachowicz (1890-1952), intellectual leader of the community. There are illustrations of Karaite Cemeteries in Za?ukiew and Kukizów, and the Community Seals which include nineteenth-century community seal with bilingual Latin-Hebrew inscription. The other illustrations are of various books and manuscripts.
