This section presents illustrations of Johann Jacob Brucker that occur in this book titled The Historiographical Concept 'System of Philosophy': its origin, nature, influence and legitimacy. The term ?historiography? can take up a variety of meanings. In the following, the term is understood as the history and method of a given historical discipline, in this case the history of philosophy. The history of philosophy has a history of its own, as far as it is possible to identify the emergence of the discipline in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and to trace the development of several methods employed by historians of philosophy in these and subsequent centuries.
