Chapter Summary

This appendix section of the book Unpredictability and Presence Norwegian Kingship in the High Middle Ages first provides a list of Norwegian kings who reigned during the period 1161?1319. It, then, lists the larger factional groups during the period 1177?1240. The section also provides a list of the titles of some important royal officials. The book, among other things, deals with the king?s direct encounters with the people, and therefore does not bring in the king?s indirect rule through sýslumenn (comparable to English sheriffs) and other representatives.

Keywords: Norwegian Kings; unpredictability
