Chapter Summary

This chapter talks about the agreement about a dowry. The greater part of the text deals with the terms of the cession of the dowry, i.e. the categories of the pherne and the prosphora, in exchange for a cash payment. The dowry was to be ceded to the family of the wife's husband two years earlier by a deed of cession drawn up through the notary office in Tebtynis in July/August 137 A.D.; the actual cession was postponed and took only effect on September 11, 139 A.D. The chapter discusses case of Tepheros.
