Chapter Summary

When Shardza Rinpoche was 64, at the beginning of the new year in 1922, he had an inauspicious dream which led him to the decision to build a stupa in order to appease obstacles. During his 65th year in 1923, Shardza Rinpoche gave teachings in relation to his on-going composition of the Lung rigs mdzod and he supplemented them with instructions on his sDom gsum rnam 'byed. In 1924, Shardza Rinpoche invited gTer chen gSang sngags gling pa to his hermitage in order to perform a wrathful ritual of dBal phur nag po on his behalf, after which the gter ston moved back to his monastery in Nyag rong. During the 4th Tibetan month, he and his students performed an extensive feast offering of the Tshe dbang bod yul ma cycle, after which he remained continuously gazing at the sky. The movements of his breath stopped and he passed away.
