Chapter Summary

Pluralism in its current form belongs to the modern age and is associated with two major spheres: one is the sphere of religion and culture, and, the other, the sphere of society. Instead of seeing the world as consisting of one straight line plus hundreds of crooked and broken lines, one should see it as consisting of an aggregate of straight lines which meet, run parallel and overlap: truths immersed within truths. And does the fact that the Qurʾan describes prophets as following a right pathin other words, moving along one of the straight paths and not the straight pathnot substantiate this? The chapter also discusses positive pluralism and negative pluralism. The former has a sense and source whereas in the latter, something is always lacking; either certitude or truth or compatibility.

Keywords: negative pluralism; positive pluralism; straight paths
