This chapter presents English translations of Arabic texts dealing with several instances of the prescription of decoctions and on purgative pills which is useful against black bile, which extracts burning, viscid tough residues, inveterate rheumatic-phlegmatic fevers, obstruction, ischuria, and pain in the liver and stomach, haemorrhoidal cramps, pain in the rectum and lower intestines, loss of blood Chebulic myrobalan and beleric myrobalan. In each instance, a description of the preparation of the medicine is also provided.
