Chapter Summary

This front matter section of the book Sabur ibn Sahl's Dispensatory in the Recension of the 'Ad?udi Hospital contains the table of contents and acknowledgements. As regards his literary work, Sabur figures as the author of a handful of medico-pharmacological writings, but his main gift to posterity is the dispensatory. The first manuscript containing Sabur ibn Sahl's dispensatory was registered in 1866 by the Bavarian curator Joseph Aumer and it remained, for more than two generations, the only known textual witness, attracting little, if any, scholarly attention.

Keywords: 'Ad?udi Hospital; medico-pharmacological writings; Sabur ibn Sahl's dispensatory
