Chapter Summary

The aim of this book, the second of the series of Aetiana, is twofold, and is divided into two more or less separate parts. Part II of the book provides the specimen reconstructionis of an entire book, viz. a full reconstruction of Book II of Aetius as a single unified text. The book offers a separate and meticulous analysis of each chapter of Aetius Book II, on the basis of the evidence of the main witnesses and of other sources. The book also contains a separate index of the doxographical-dialectical parallels adduced in Part II. Also included in Part I is a concordance of the numbering of chapters and lemmata in the three major witnesses for Aetius' compendium, viz. ps.-Plutarch, Stobaeus, and Theodoret, together with Diels's reconstructions in Doxographi Graeci, and a reconstruction.

Keywords: Doxographi Graeci; doxographical-dialectical parallels; Philosophia Antiqua; Philosophia Antiqua; Plutarch; Stobaeus; Theodoret
