Chapter Summary

This appendix section presents the remarks on transliteration, translation, and quotation. The transliteration system from Hebrew to English generally follows the rules of the Encyclopaedia Judaica. However, in particular cases the conventional spelling differs from this rule and proper names and other well-known terms are often spelled according to their common usage in English. All original quotations and paraphrases, which are not directly followed by a footnote giving the reference to the source, originate from interviews the author conducted during field research between 2000 and 2005 in Israel. The section finally provides a list of the interviews conducted between the years 2000-2003 and in 2005, mostly in Israel.
