Chapter Summary

This is the introductory chapter of the book, which provides evidence of Seán’s interest in, and openness to, perspectives from varying disciplines, as well as the friendship and collegiality experienced by so many of us. While Galilee has been at the heart of Seán’s research interest, he has wandered in many different directions in search of a deeper and more nuanced understanding of early Judaism in the Greek and Roman periods and the development of the early Christian movement. Seán’s career as Professor of Theology at Trinity College Dublin, was neither the start nor the end of his professional life.
