Chapter Summary

This chapter presents a verse in Manichaean Kephalaia. There are Four Qualities found in the eyes of human beings that see, as they look at without the four that are hidden in them. While [the cold] that is in the eye belongs to them, the heat belongs to the fire. The pupil, however, belongs to the Light-Mind, which perceives what is hidden in all things, since it inhabits the Living Air. Again he spoke: Why does the pupil of the eye seeing during the day, but the approaching night it does not see? Which mystery does this signify?
