This chapter presents a biography of Sergio Carrera, the author of In Search of the Perfect Citizen?. Sergio Carrera was born on 6 September 1976 in Ponferrada (León), Spain. He studied law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Salamanca (Spain) and the University of Maastricht (The Netherlands). He obtained an LL.M. on European, International and Comparative Law (MIC Programme) at the University of Maastricht in 2002. Carrera holds a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Law of the University of Maastricht. During the last years he has collaborated in various trans-European projects and has published widely as regards fields related to the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice in the European Union (EU), with particular attention to immigration, inclusion and borders. He is external expert on these very issues for the European Economic and Social Committee and the European Parliament.
