From the Delagoa savannah, across the deserts of Baluchistan, through to the Kerala backwaters, the Arabian seas encompass a bewildering variety of microregions, each with its local patterns. This chapter of the book Arabian Seas 1700-1763 presents several illustrations and paintings depicting buildings and the life of people in the Arabian Sea regions. These illustrations are a part of the Volume 1 of the book which focuses on the Western Indian Ocean in the Eighteenth Century, and include fishing ships and katamarans, a church in Mozambique, a mtepe in Zanzibar, a palace of the al-Qasimi imams near Sa'na, and 18th century houses in Basra.
